How to Choose the Right Glass Thickness
Selecting the appropriate thickness for your pond window depends on the depth and size of your pond:
-
21.5mm: Suitable for ponds up to 400mm deep and 1600mm wide
-
25.5mm: Suitable for ponds up to 600mm deep and 2000mm wide
-
33mm: Suitable for ponds up to 1000mm deep and 2000mm wide
-
39mm: Suitable for ponds up to 1000mm deep and 3000mm wide
-
44.5mm: Suitable for ponds up to 1200mm deep and 3500mm wide
Note: For best results, we recommend fitting the glass with a rebate system to achieve a flush finish, especially when using pond liners. It’s advisable to consult with a professional installer to ensure the proper fit and safety.
How to Fit a Pond Viewing Window: Quick Guide
Install a stunning pond viewing window with these simple steps, suitable for sleep ponds with box liners and infinity windows or brick ponds with fibreglassed interiors and an infinity window.
Option 1: Sleep Pond with Box Liner
-
Create a rebate/recess in the pond structure about 50mm wide and as deep as your glass. Make it 6–10mm larger than the glass for a 3–5mm silicone gap.
-
Fit the glass into the rebate, level and secure with packers. Seal the gaps with pond-safe silicone.
-
Mask 40mm inside the rebate, lay the liner flat, and seal the liner onto the glass with silicone for a watertight fit.
Option 2: Brick Pond with Fibreglass Interior
-
Form a rebate/recess in the brick wall matching your glass size. Bed the glass directly into the rebate, leaving a 3–5mm gap.
-
Fix the glass with pond-safe silicone, ensuring it is level and flush.
-
Seal around the glass with silicone for a secure, leak-proof fit. The fibreglass interior offers support and a clean finish.
Materials Needed: pond glass, silicone, packers, clamps, and finishing tools.
Tips: Leave a 3–5mm silicone expansion gap, use pond-safe silicone, and ensure proper curing for a watertight seal.
